A Rapid Course In English For Students Of Economics
This graded course of readings and exercises is intended for students of economics who need to consolidate their knowledge of English either as a library language or as a full-time medium of instruction. It is assumed that the student already has a basic knowledge of English.
Each of the fourteen units contains one or two texts followed by exercises on comprehension, grammar, arrangement of sentences, and vocabulary. The texts present basic economic concepts within a limited but steadily expanding vocabulary and the structures used both in the reading texts and in the exercises are carefully graded. The aim is to facilitate reading and to provide practice in the kind of English which the student may expect to hear in his lectures.
The book can be used either for rapid revision or as a complete course over a longer period. There is a key to the exercises together with a vocabulary list with phonetics equivalents and an index of the grammar exercises. Though primarily intended for use in the classroom, it can also be used by students working on their own.
